Multiple Police Reports Made Against Telegram Chat Group “SG Nasi Lemak” Containing Nude Photos of SG Women

On 4th Oct 2019, the Police said that multiple police reports were made against the Telegram chat group “SG Nasi Lemak”.

From screenshots uploaded by netters, the chat group purportedly had over 40,000 members, some of whom share obscene photos and videos of women. Photos shared on the group include voyeuristic shots of women in public places, in various states of undress, selfies taken in sexy poses and photos of women in compromising positions.

Other content shared on the Telegram group include advertisements for vaping supplies, sex enhancement drugs and sexual services.

The existence of the “SG Nasi Lemak” Telegram group came to light after several women reported finding their photos being shared in the group, and subsequently made police reports.

While the Telegram group is no longer accessible, the obscene photos of the women are believed to have already been widely circulated among its users. Readers who have received such obscene content are advised not to forward it to their friends.

According to a statement by the Police, it is an offence under Section 292 of the Penal Code to circulate obscene materials. Anyone who transmits by electronic means any obscene materials may be liable to a jail term of up to three months, or a fine, or both. Investigations on the Telegram group are currently in progress.
