Loan Shark Harasses Family with Repeated Orders of Food From Various Restaurants

A loan shark believed to have been unable to find a runner due to the circuit breaker measures, decided to harass a family living in Yishun with repeated huge orders of food from various restaurants.

According to Mr Li (49-years-old), he received food deliveries that he did not order from at least three different restaurants on Monday (13th Apr) between 2 to 6pm.

The first order came from Mcdonalds at around 2pm. After Mr Li told the delivery rider that he did not place the order, the rider called the number stated in the invoice to verify the order. A man who picked up the call then asked to speak to Mr Li.

Mr Li said that the man on the phone told him that he was looking for his brother who owes them money. When Mr Li told the man that his brother had moved out a few years ago, the man refused to believe him and continued with his threats and vulgarities before hanging up.

Later at around 4pm, Mr Li received more food orders from two Chinese restaurants in Orchard and Taman Jurong costing nearly $700.

This time when Mr Li spoke to the same man over the phone, the man told him that this was just the beginning, and that more will come. This prompted Mr Li to make a police report.

The police are currently investigating the incident.
