US Based Singaporean Activist Melissa Chen Who Once Facilitated Amos Yee’s Escape to US, Helped Got Him Arrested for Child Porn Charges

Just a day after news of Amos Yee’s arrest for child pornography charges were published by the US media, US based Singaporean activist Melissa Chen announced on her Facebook that she was happy that Amos Yee has been arrested.

In her post, she added that she was first made known of Amos Yee’s alleged activity on Twitter more than a year ago by an anonymous person. She verified the person’s claim by speaking to the young victim, and decided to take the case to the Department of Homeland Security, eventually leading to Amos Yee’s arrest by the Chicago Police.

To recap, Melissa Chen uploaded a Facebook video in 2018, admitting that she had visited Amos Yee in prison and handed him documents which facilitated his escape to the US as an asylum seeker back in 2016.

While the damage done to the child pornography victims cannot be undone, Melissa should have learnt a valuable lesson by now, that she should be more discerning about who she helps and fights for in the future.
