Man Orders $447 Phone Online From Lazada Seller, Ends Up Receiving A Black Straw Instead

Speaking to reporters, Mr Teo (55-years-old) said that he wanted to buy a new mobile phone for his wife, and went onto the online shopping website Lazada to look for a suitable model.

Mr Teo happened to chance upon a Double Ten (10th October) sale promotion, where a particular mobile phone set was on sale at a $180 discount. Mr Teo then placed an order with the vendor, and made the payment of $447 for the mobile phone.

However, Mr Teo got a nasty shock when the package supposedly containing the mobile phone arrived. Mr Teo found something amiss when he inspected the package, which felt light, and the box was slightly deformed.

After opening it, he found only a piece of black straw inside the box, and no mobile phone. Mr Teo contacted the Lazada customer service, and was told that they will investigate the matter, but he needed to send them the package containing the straw.

To this day, Mr Teo has yet to receive any response from Lazada regarding the matter. Mr Teo then decided to make a police report.

The police have confirmed that they have received the case, and are currently investigating.
