Two claw machine vendors who were unable to operate their businesses due to the COVID-19 outbreak resorted to more creative means of selling their merchandise.

Claw machine vendors Play United and Fantasyland raffled their items away on social media via live streaming. The items ranging from soft toys to a 55 inch TV would be hidden and numbered 1 to 500. The player would pay $10 to choose any of the numbers and win the hidden prize.

However, some members of the public likened what the businesses were doing to gambling, and expressed concern that children at home might get addicted to playing the game.

There were also others who said that it was a creative and novel idea for these vendors to bring their businesses online. By doing so, they let Singaporeans enjoy a new form of entertainment while staying home during the circuit breaker period.
