Speaker Tan Chuan Jin Flexes His Muscle, Raps Minister Shanmugam For Talking Too Long In Parliament

Newly appointed Speaker Tan Chuan Jin, flexed his muscles in Parliament today by cutting off Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam mid way his reply to MP Lee Bee Wah’s questions about the SCDF.

Speaker Tan told Minister Shanmugam that he has run out of time and asked him to wrap up his answer. Although Minister Shanmugam put on a brave front by retorting that he was answering four questions at a time and told the speaker “yes sir, i will try to sir”.

Is this a sign of what is to come under Speaker Tan’s stewardship where there is more fairness in Parliament?
