Kindness begets kindness. This saying is so true, as shown in this instance. While picking up his passengers, Grab driver Alvin Tan came across an unusual  sight. His customers were a Malay lady and a special needs Chinese boy. Upon chatting with the lady, Alvin found out that she is a volunteer who brought this Chinese boy out with her to celebrate Malay festivities. They would usually take the bus or MRT home but since the boy was tired that day, this Malay lady decided to take Grab instead, despite the high fare. Upon arrival at their destination, Alvin told the lady that he would not charge her for the ride as a way of thanking her for her kindness.

Alvin said he did so because he was impressed with the kindness of this lady. She was willing to go out of her way for this boy, regardless of race. Apart from being kind, this lady is an exemplification of multiracialism.

Now who said Singaporeans are an unfeeling bunch? This story shows that kindness is all around, we just have to be kind to receive kindness.
