Lee Hsien Yang has joined Dr Tan Cheng Bock’s Progress Singapore Party. This morning, the two had breakfast at Tiong Bahru Market where Dr Tan presented him with a party membership card.
However, it is uncertain if he will be contesting in the upcoming election. He merely said that he will disclose his decision when he is ready.
Regardless of his decision, LHY will be of big help to the PSP as long as he does not harp on his family feud or what his father had wanted. Singaporeans are familiar with his public comments about the Oxley saga but not so much of what he has in mind for our nation.
As a party member, LHY should move his focus away from the dispute and finally show us how he can make our country better.
While LHY carries the Lee family brand, Dr Tan has had years of political experience that can value-add PSP. With these two high-profile personalities in the same party, Singaporeans can be well-assured and have high expectations of what they have to offer. Their knowledge, experience and expertise will certainly enable them to come up with solutions better than what we have today.
