Looks like its that time of the year again (no not Christmas), where Singaporeans get to enjoy the aromatic smell of wood burning incense everyday, courtesy of our neighbours in Indonesia. According to statistics from NEA, Indonesians in Kalimantan and Sumatra have been relentlessly organizing camp fires and outdoor BBQs.

As of 4pm today, NEA’s website reported that Singapore’s 24-hr PSI reading was modearate at 72 (readings exceeding 100 would be unhealthy), and the 1hr PM2.5 reading was normal at 54 (a range of 56-150 would be considered elevated).

In 2015, Indonesia showed its neighbourly friendliness when their Vice-President Jusuf Kalla said:

For 11 months, they (our neighbours) enjoyed nice air from Indonesia and they never thanked us. They suffered because of the haze for one month and they get upset”

To best enjoy Indonesia’s friendly gesture, pedestrians and people working outdoors are encouraged to use N95 masks, while drivers of cars with convertible rooftops should avoid flaunting their pretty faces at this time.

Always remember! A little gratitude goes a long way! Thank You Indonesia!
