A “tsk” sound was all that was needed to anger a 14-year old teenager and get him into trouble with the law. This incident occurred on Saturday (21st Dec) at around 9.29am, at a NTUC supermarket inside Clementi Shopping Centre.
According to eye-witness accounts, a teenager in a white jacket was seen having a physical tussle with a middle aged man outside the NTUC supermarket when police arrived at the scene on Saturday morning.
The incident started when a woman became irritated by the teenager for blocking her way, and made a “tsk” sound expressing her unhappiness. The teenager reacted by scolding the woman with Hokkien vulgarities. The woman’s daughter who was close by reacted by giving the teenager a slap on his face. The teenager lost his cool and got into a physical confrontation with the mother and daughter.
According to eye witnesses, a middle-aged man who passed by, was seen trying his best to dissuade the teenager from attacking the pair. Even as he was shoved aside by the teenager several times, he held his ground and stood in front of the mother and daughter, protecting them from the hot tempered teenager.
The incident ended with the police arriving at the scene. It was gathered that the teenager was later sent to the National University Hospital (NUH). The police is currently investigating this incident.
