A video of a person dressed up like a ninja and stealing clothes along a HDB corridor made its way on Facebook on Wednesday (24th Jun). According to the CCTV footage, the theft occurred on 24th June at around 1am.

Speaking to reporters, the 43-year-old owner of the HDB unit in Choa Chu Kang, two pieces of his wife’s new headscarf were stolen that day. He added that since moving into the HDB unit in 2017, it was the first time clothes had been stolen from his home.

Another resident staying on the same floor, a 15-year-old student said that he did not notice anything suspicious on the day of the theft, but said that a chicken his family had been rearing was stolen from their corridor by a middle aged uncle last year. The theft had been captured on CCTV.

While fitting CCTVs may allow home owners to capture footage of the theft, it might be difficult to identify thieves wearing disguises. Home owners should keep all valuable items (including pets) inside their homes.
