63-year-old Cleaner Auntie Pressured into Buying $13,000 of Beauty Products and Packages in 5 Hour Ordeal
Three beauticians worked together and pressured a 63-year-old cleaning lady who did not speak or understand English, into signing up for a beauty package costing her over $13,000.
This incident happened just last Friday (4th Sep) at around 12 pm at a beauty salon located at the Suntec City Mall.
According to 30-year-old Mr Lin, his mother had walked by a beauty salon located at Suntec City, when one of the shop’s beauticians went up to her and applied what seemed like facial cleanser on her hand. While his mother refused the beautician’s advances, she was led into the shop under the pretext of helping her to wash the facial cleanser off her hands.
Once inside the shop, another two beauticians began promoting beauty products to her, pressuring her to buy more and more beauty products. By the end of the 5 hour ordeal, Mr Lin’s mother had paid over $13,000 for their beauty products and packages.
Mr Lin has since made a police report, and has recovered the sum of money paid by his mother. He wishes to warn others with elderly parents to be wary of these hard sell tactics.
