The Liquor (Supply and Consumption) Act prohibits the sale and consumption of alcohol after 10.30pm. In order to get round this restriction, a group of people decided to bring their own alcohol to drink and chit-chat at a coffee shop.

This incident happened last Friday (2nd Oct) at around 10.30pm at a coffee shop located at Block 177 Bukit Batok West Ave 8.

According to 27-year-old Chen who works at the coffee shop, he tried advising the group of middle aged patrons to stop drinking their alcohol there and leave, but was ignored. After discussing the matter with his father, they decided to make a police report.

Chen added that he often sees patrons at his coffee shop who ignore the alcohol restrictions and continue to drink alcohol late into the night, making his job very difficult.
