Two neighbours staying along the same corridor on the 12th floor of Block 335B Anchorvale Cresent got into a dispute over the dumping of rubbish at the common rubbish chute area.

But instead of speaking to one another in person, they decided to exchange strongly worded messages to each other with written notes pasted on the walls of the common rubbish chute area.

According to the content written on the notes, one resident was unhappy that his neighbour had dumped his over-sized cardboard boxes outside the common rubbish chute area. The resident had written a note and pasted it on the wall of the rubbish chute area, telling his neighbour not to dump his rubbish there, and that the cleaner has no obligation to remove his over-sized rubbish.

The resident’s neighbour subsequently replied him also using a written note pasted on the wall, saying “What was wrong with throwing unwanted cardboard boxes here which are empty and light?”, “Don’t forget!, we pay $70 to $80 every month to the town council to maintain the cleanliness of our estate”.

The neighbour’s written response apparently angered the resident, who responded by writing that the dumping of his rubbish is a fire hazard and an eyesore, and asked his neighbour to call him to discuss this matter.

The heated exchange of written notes which started with handwritten notes consisting of a few sentences, soon progressed to neatly paragraphed computer printed notes containing thousands of words.

A week after the dispute started, the resident still has no idea who the inconsiderate neighbour is. Other residents staying along the same corridor said that they had no idea that a heated exchange of notes was happening right outside their homes.

The resident who complained about the rubbish dumping has refused any interviews as he did not want to escalate the matter any further.
