66-year-old taxi driver Mr Shen wanted to live nearer to his eldest daughter who had moved to Sengkang after getting married, and decided to apply for a BTO flat nearby.
Mr Shen together with his wife and youngest daughter successfully applied for a three-room BTO unit at Blk 455A Sengkang West Ave.
After waiting in anticipation for three years, Mr Shen and his family were delighted when they finally received the keys to their new home. However, they were shocked to find numerous bees in their new home and a massive bee hive the size of a football in their master bedroom toilet.
For their own safety, Mr Shen decided to shut the master bedroom door and leave the unit. After informing HDB about the matter, a pest control team was sent the next day to get rid of the bee hive.
When interviewed, Mr Shen said that he was glad that no one got stung by the bees. He also jokingly added that the gathering of hundreds of bees in his new home was an auspicious sign.
This goes to show that having a positive mindset certainly helps in lightening the mood.
