Family KTV operator Cash Studio converted their outlet at SingPost Centre into a matchmaking service. Customers can have their meals and chat with their dates seated in a different room via a TV screen.

According to the owner of Cash Studio Mr Pan (47-years-old), the matchmaking session lasts 30mins consisting of three stages lasting 10mins each.

During the first 10mins in the first stage, the customer’s faces will be hidden using mosaic on the TV screens. This is to allow both parties to get to know each other better without knowing how they look.

At the second stage (the next 10mins), the mosaic will be partially reduced, allowing both parties to have a better look at each other. The faces of both parties will only be completely revealed in the last 10mins.

If a customer does not like what they see, they are able to switch to have conversations with customers from different rooms.

This type of matchmaking service is believed to be the first in Singapore. Mr Pan says that this is a good and safe way for people to socialize and match make, as it reduces the amount of face-to-face contact time.
